To Our School Room!We are the Stanley Family of Spanish Fort, AL. We have been homeschooling since 1997. We use Switched-On Schoolhouse. It is a computer based curriculum. I love it! I think it is a lot of fun. It works really well for us. Alot of parents prefer to put together their own curriculums either writing the material themselves, picking different books & supplies for different subjects, using unit studies & so on. There are as many different ways to homeschool as there are people who homeschool. That is one of the great things about it. You tailor the way you teach your children to what you think is best for them & your family. Our first year of homeschooling, we used Sonlight Curriculum. I absolutely adore that curriculum. It is literature based & there is a lot of reading. They pick the absolute best books, & the stories are wonderful. The curriculum is so complete. You will lack for nothing if you go with them. We are dealing with ADHD in our home, & things that take most people a few hours can take us literally all day. If we ever get to where we work at a steady pace, I'd love to use Sonlight again. However, there are so many materials available, you should definitely explore all of your options before you make a decision. What is right for one child may not be right for the next. If you are new to this subject, one of the first things you need to do is check the laws for the area in which you live. Homeschooling is legal in all of the USA. Each state does vary as far as the laws are concerned. I have links for your convenience on this website to take you to where you can find the laws for your state, & in some cases, other countries.

If you would like to be part of an ADHD homeschooling e-mail group, feel free to check this out. Here is the introduction:
I was looking for a group like this & couldn't find one. So, I
started this one in March 2001. I'm an ADD Mom homeschooling an ADHD
son, or trying to! If you are in the same boat & would like support,
ideas or just to chat, feel free to join. I'm not always active, but
there are others here besides me. There are some folks here with
great wisdom.
