"Therefore I tell you,
whatever you ask in prayer,
believe that you have received
it and it will be yours."
Mark 11:24

Here is the obituary that ran in the Mobile Press Register on February 2 & 3. I have made a few corrections because the paper had some facts wrong. Other than that it is copied word for word.

My (Tracie) own addition: Someone not a "blood" relative, but such a dear friend to my mom was Joy Reid Perry. She was just as close as any family member. They were best friends since the third grade. Joy took my mom to doctor appointments when my sister wasn't able to, after my mom was no longer able to drive. My mom had several other dear friends as well.

Hi Friends,

I just wanted to let you know that we have gotten back to Summerville after being in Mobile since last Friday. Anyone who has e-mailed me personally I will reply to soon.

My Mother's service was beautiful. A lot of people came & a lot sent her flowers or plants. So many people said how she was the sweetest person they had ever known & how she was a real lady. I know she is in heaven & that is very comforting to me.

Right after my mom died, Vickie (my sister) was in the kitchen. She looked at my mom from the kitchen & thought, "She looks like she is smiling, I must be seeing things." She walked over to my moms bed to check & she was indeed smiling. When the hospice nurse got there she said, "She is smiling, she is beautiful! I've never seen anything like this before." She must have been in the presence of the Lord, family who went before her, or Elvis. ;o)

My mother had loved Elvis, after all she grew up in the 50's. My sister & her family took my mother to Graceland the last weekend that my mom spent on this earth. Anyway, that smile was a real blessing.

Dear Friends,

I'm sorry I haven't updated you in a few weeks, but there was really no change, until the past few days.
My Mom isn't expected to make it through the weekend. Please keep her in your prayers, that she not suffer, & that she goes peacefully. Please pray for my family during this time, that we have the strength we need to get through this.

Thank you so much for all of your support.

Dear Friends,

I have something very important to ask you. Would you pray for my Mother and family? Here is the story in a nutshell:

My Mother has breast cancer & it has spread to her lungs, bones (one of her legs and the pelvis area), chest, & now her brain. The doctor told my sister today that she thinks my Mother has about two to four months left. My sister and a family friend took my Mother to a different doctor today, as it seems that the last doctor was negligent. He kept telling them there was no change when the cancer was in fact advancing.

They are going to continue with radiation and chemotherapy -- she has been on a chemo pill, & I think this doctor is going to look for a more aggressive chemo. There is already swelling on the brain -- they will start radiation on her head on Monday, & the doctor also wrote a prescription for some medicine to help too.

I know with God, all things are possible - I know He can still heal her, & that is what I am going to pray for. I am asking all those who are willing to please pray for my Mother. Her name is Beverly Vinsant. She is only 58 years old.

I do not live in the same town with my family, I moved away 16 years ago. Although this is hard for me, it is much worse for my sister. My Mother is my sisters best friend. She lives with my sister a lot of the time & has helped with her son. They are together much of the time. My sister is devastated. She & her husband just had a baby (their 2nd son) on December 19th.

Also, this will be very difficult for my Grandmother, who is still as healthy as they come at 80 years old. My Mother's brother died last April from alcoholism & heartbreak from losing his wife in December of 2000. This is why this would make it even more difficult for my Grandmother. Her husband (my Grandfather) passed away in 1999, as did her brother and best friend. Is this a major whammy for her or what?

My Mother also has two sisters, a husband (my Dad), three grandsons & other friends and relatives.

I tell you all of these things not meaning to be wordy, but just so you understand how devastating a loss it will be to a lot of people if she has to go soon. I know God can heal her, & we just need as many people as possible praying for her healing.

Please add her to any prayer chains that you know of. Thank you so much if you are willing to pray for her. Lets show the world what God will do when His children join together in prayer! I will post updates here when I have them.
